For this article I want to talk about timeless flat shoes to wear in-between seasons and how important shoes are in polishing your style.

Sometimes it can be tricky deciding which pairs to wear, especially during transitional seasons like spring and fall, or when packing for a trip. For my recent trip to France, I packed four pairs of shoes: one pair of flip-flops that I use in hotel rooms, one pair of sneakers that I wore during the flight as my travel shoes and two new pairs of flats: ballet flats and loafers.

These two pairs of flats became my main everyday shoes throughout the trip. Of course I could have chosen to wear sneakers non-stop for comfort (especially in Paris where I walk a lot) but I decided not to because, candidly, sneakers don’t always give the most polished or feminine look. Personally, I much prefer elegant flats for everyday wear. They instantly make an outfit feel more refined and chic.

Remember, fashion trends come and go, but true style remains the same and some shoe styles have earned a permanent place in a well-curated wardrobe. Ballet flats, loafers, and Mary Janes are among those timeless classics because they combine elegance, versatility, and practicality. Let’s dive in!

1) Ballet Flats

I wear mine with long skirts and slip dresses for a romantic look and with jeans to make my outfit more feminine.

2) Loafers

Loafers, on the other hand, bring a touch of sophistication and structure to an outfit. I love a good preppy style and loafers are definitely part of the equation to achieve it. This brown pair in suede is my other new shoe addition and I’m obsessed with them! I love the rich color and they are absolutely the perfect casual-chic shoe. I have the Siena Loafers. They are incredibly versatile and timeless. I personally love wearing mine with jeans for casual weekends and tailored pants for an effortless polished look, which is perfect for more professional settings.

3) Mary Janes

Mary Jane shoes are another timeless style of flat shoes a woman should own. They are the perfect balance between classic and playful, with their signature strap adding charm and femininity while remaining chic and refined. Wearing this style of shoes, gives a chic Parisian touch to the simplest outfit instantly.

Mary Janes are another comfortable yet polished pair of shoes. I wear my Mila pair mostly in-between seasons like spring and fall, when loafers can sometimes feel too heavy and sandals are too summery. Mary Jane shoes work great with straight-leg jeans, midi skirts, dresses and tailored trousers.

The pair I have has a rosewood color that I love. So, to make the color of my shoes pop, I wear them mostly with monochrome outfits (all black outfits or all white). They are another essential pair of flat shoes to have for a refined everyday wardrobe in my opinion.
